The holiday program dedicated to the 278th anniversary of the founding of the city was approved in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
Events will unfold on October 17 at several sites.
The birthday of the city will begin with prayers for the health and longevity of the residents of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, who will serve in the Orthodox churches of the regional capital.
Municipal educational institutions will host a single class hour dedicated to the celebration of the 278th anniversary of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The children will be told about the historical past of the City of Military Glory, the days of its foundation.
At 11 o’clock the solemn ritual of laying flowers to the monument to Vitus Bering, the founder of the city, will begin. Here students from Petropavlovsk will receive their first passport.
The ceremony of tribute and respect to the founders of the city by laying flowers to the memorial plaque A.N. Vinogradov, one of our contemporaries – the builders of the city.
At noon, according to tradition, a ritual will be held on the banks of the Avacha Bay in the center of Petropavlovsk, dedicated to the Day of Sailors and Fishermen Memorial Day. Its participants will remember those whose lives have stopped at sea.
From 2 pm one of the most significant events of the City Day will begin – dedication to the Honorary Citizens of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The ceremony will be held in the city center in the alley of honorary citizens.
In the historical exhibition center “City of Military Glory” open day will be held.
