The passenger ferry will connect Kamchatka with the ports of the Far East and will increase the tourist flow

The Government of the Kamchatka Territory summed up the results of online voting, by definition of the type of vessel for the organization of regular communication between the peninsula and the ports of the Far East.

When asked which type of sea transport they would prefer to travel from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to Vladivostok and other ports of the Far East, more than 70% of the Kamchatka respondents said that they were on a cargo and passenger ferry.

“The growing pace of social and economic development of the region, increased interest in Kamchatka from tourists, foreign and foreign investors, increasing business needs in the organization of freight traffic for a long time dictate the need to build a cargo and passenger ferry for the organization of maritime communication of the Kamchatka Territory with the ports of the Far East. It is no coincidence that the inhabitants of the peninsula preferred this type of vessel to the majority of votes. The construction of a ferry will not only increase the mobility of the population, but, importantly, create an alternative to air traffic and will increase the tourist flow to the region, “he said. The construction of a cargo and passenger ferry will be financed from the federal budget in the framework of the state target program “Development of the Russian transport system”.
