The city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is located on the shore of Avacha Bay, recognized as one of the largest and most beautiful in the world.
Avacha Bay has an outlet into the Avacha Gulf of the Pacific Ocean. 12 km south of the entrance to Avacha Bay is Starichkov Island, which is a natural monument of regional significance. The area of the island is only 93 hectares and is surrounded by numerous coastal reefs and rocks exposed during low tide. Further south are the Tikhaya and Russkaya bays. During boat trips you will have the opportunity to observe killer whales, dolphins and whales, sea otters, and a rookery of sea lions. On board comfortable boats we offer a delicious lunch of fresh fish soup and fried fish.
There are several islands in Avacha Bay, including Bering Island, where one of the discoverers of Kamchatka, Vitus Bering, is buried, and the island is also home to a colony of fur seals. On the islands in Avacha Bay you can observe a variety of birds, including seagulls, cormorants and other species.
