155 dangerous bears shot in Kamchatka

This season, 155 bears posing a danger to people were shot at the request of residents of the region, reports Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government Roman Vasilevsky. He noted that predators that could not be driven into the forest were killed.

All cases are documented. Several dozen dangerous bears are shot in Kamchatka every year. This year, the number of killed predators exceeded the norm. Only about 10 years ago, when the bears went en masse to people due to the lack of fish in the rivers, about 160 bears were shot.

Let us recall that this year the animals have repeatedly appeared in Petropavlovsk and other populated areas of the region. The latest incident occurred on September 5 in the Molodezhny microdistrict near the village of Svetly within the boundaries of the urban district. There, four bears came out to a man walking his dog. The brave shepherd rushed to his defense, and the owner managed to escape. The dog was seriously injured, but made it home.

The tragedy occurred on July 25 in the forest near the settlement of Termalny in the Yelizovsky district. There, a female bear mauled a man. The predator and her cub were shot. On the evening of August 14, the predator attacked a summer resident in the SNT "Avacha-1" in the Yelizovsky district. The man was seriously injured, but he managed to fight off the beast.
