The application campaign for participation in the Beringia. Avacha dog sled race has been completed in Kamchatka, the Kamchatka Krai Ministry of Tourism reported.
This year, 22 mushers intend to participate. Racers from four regions have submitted applications: the Irkutsk and Vladimir regions, the Udmurt Republic, and the Kamchatka Krai.
The competition will be held from February 8 to 15. The mushers will compete in three disciplines. They will have to cover about 300 kilometers. The route passes through the Pinachevsky Pass and the central cordon of the Nalychevo Park.
In 2024, 20 athletes from seven regions of Russia took part in the competition. Kamchatka racer Anna Semashkina, Vyacheslav Demchenko from the Moscow Region, and Viktor Mayorov, representing the Yaroslavl Region, became champions in their disciplines.
Meanwhile, preparations for the main Kamchatka dog sled race "Beringia" continue in the region. Applications for participation are accepted until January 15. Already 10 mushers are ready to start the marathon distance.
