SuperJob Reveals Russians' Dream Domestic Travel Destinations – Kamchatka Ranks Third
A study by job search platform SuperJob has uncovered where Russians most want to travel within their own country. Kamchatka secured third place among the top desired destinations.
The survey found that Lake Baikal is the most coveted vacation spot, with 26% of respondents dreaming of visiting. The Altai Mountains came in second (16%), followed by Kamchatka (14%). Meanwhile, 10% of Russians wish to explore St. Petersburg, while 8% prefer Kaliningrad.
Other popular destinations include Crimea, Karelia, Primorsky Krai, and Sakhalin Oblast, each chosen by 6% of respondents. Moscow was named by 5% (or every twentieth resident). Additional mentions included the Arctic, Sochi, Golden Ring cities, Kazan, the North Caucasus, Krasnodar Krai, and the Ural Mountains.
Interestingly, 8% said there are no places in Russia they’d like to visit, while 5% dream of exploring every corner of the country.
The study also noted gender differences: Men, likely adventure seekers, frequently chose Kamchatka and Sakhalin, while women leaned toward Baikal, Altai, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, and Karelia.
Notably, according to the Russian Tour Operators Association, Kamchatka is also among the most expensive domestic travel destinations.
