A self-service baggage check-in system has been installed in the new terminal of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (Yelizovo) International Airport, helping to reduce passenger processing time before flights.
The BAGS ID self-check-in system allows passengers who have completed online check-in to register their luggage quickly and without queues. "The new system significantly speeds up baggage handling by eliminating the need to wait in line at the check-in counter. Upon arriving at the airport, passengers can check in their luggage themselves: they simply approach the kiosk, scan the QR code from their e-boarding pass on their smartphone, and after successful recognition, place their luggage on the weighing platform. They then print their own baggage tag and place their luggage on a dedicated BAGS ID conveyor belt before proceeding to security and boarding. Note: this service is currently available for flights operated by Aeroflot and Aurora airlines," explained Artem Kovalenko, the airport’s production director.
For now, the new international terminal is operating in a test mode. Its official opening will take place once final construction and landscaping work is completed.
