The sailing ship "Nadezhda" has arrived in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky as part of a training voyage for cadets of the Admiral Nevelskoy Maritime State University.

The visit of this legendary training vessel marks the 300th anniversary of Vitus Bering's first Kamchatka expedition. The ship is named after the legendary sloop "Nadezhda," on which Russian sailors under the command of Ivan Krusenstern and Yuri Lisyansky completed the first Russian circumnavigation. According to Captain Sergey Vorobyov, the voyage's motto, "Spes Fretus" ("Relying on Hope"), reflects the spirit of naval exploration: the sailors entrusted their lives to hope, and it did not fail them.

Today, September 27, an "Open Deck" program was held at the city's Sea Terminal. Dozens of local residents and visitors were able to tour the legendary sailing ship, meet the crew, and learn more about its history. "Nadezhda" is a three-masted training ship. It was built in Poland at the Gdańsk Shipyard in 1991, based on a prototype of early 20th-century sailing vessels. The Russian Federation flag was raised on the ship on June 5, 1992.
