Avacha” dog sled race in Kamchatka. The competitors will cover a route of roughly 300 kilometers, according to the race organizing committee cited by RAI Kamchatka-Inform.
“A total of 23 mushers from seven Russian regions have registered for the race. The track is about 300 km long with a total elevation gain of up to 5,000 meters, including the Pinachevsky Pass and sections within the Nalychevo Nature Park. The route combines flat terrain, long climbs, and steep descents, all under unpredictable weather conditions — demanding excellent equipment and well-trained dogs,” the organizers said.
The race is set to begin on February 8 and will take the participants about a week to complete. Registration for the main Beringia race remains open.
