Third Major Ash Emission Recently Recorded at Shiveluch Volcano

According to data from the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team (KVERT), another ash emission has occurred from the giant Shiveluch volcano on the Kamchatka Peninsula.

Key Data:

  • Ash Plume Height: Approximately 9 km above sea level.

  • Cloud Direction and Extent: 165 km to the northwest of the volcano.

  • Hazard Level: The highest ("red") aviation danger code has been issued.

Shiveluch is one of Kamchatka's largest active volcanoes, with an estimated age of 60-70 thousand years. It is located approximately 50 km from the settlement of Klyuchi.
