On Monday, February 23, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky will host a series of commemorative events in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day, the city administration has announced.
The day's observances will begin at noon in Victory Park on Rybatskoy Slavy Boulevard with a flower-laying ceremony at the memorial granite plaques bearing the names of soldiers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky who fell during the Great Patriotic War.
An hour later, at 1:00 PM, a second flower-laying ceremony will take place in Svobody Square on Leninskaya Street at the obelisk memorial to the Soviet Army soldiers who liberated the Kuril Islands in 1945.
The official events will continue at 6:00 PM with a flower-laying ceremony at the "City of Military Glory" stele. Following this, a festive concert will be held on the main city stage, featuring performances from the city's leading creative ensembles and soloists with a special patriotic program.
The celebration will culminate at 8:00 PM with a festive fireworks display.
To ensure public safety, security checkpoints equipped with arch metal detectors will be set up around the perimeter of the event area. Residents are reminded that it is forbidden to bring alcohol, dangerous substances or objects, and the use of personal fireworks or quadcopters is prohibited.
