According to the "Real Hunt" community, a large male bear had likely dug up a female bear's den with her cub, killed them both, buried his prey in the snow, and was guarding his territory.

When the hunters approached and the predator sensed them, it took an aggressive stance, clearly unwilling to share its kill. The animal was taken down with two shots. The remains of its fellow bears were found buried under the snow at the site. As a reminder, brown bears in Kamchatka begin emerging from their dens en masse in mid-April. Female bears with two- to three-year-old cubs come out of hibernation when environmental conditions become more favorable. Females with cubs born this year are the last to leave their winter shelters: in late May to early June, when the snow melts. This year, spring bear hunting on the peninsula is permitted from April 11 to June 10.
