Residents of Kamchatka got creative—perhaps too creative—in their attempt to keep bears and other predators away from their food supplies. According to the Telegram channel "Kamchatka North," the villagers of Khailino in the Olyutorsky District built some rather unusual scarecrows to guard their fragrant dried fish (yukola) from wildlife and birds. The results, however, were not quite what they expected. "The effect exceeded all expectations—now bears show up in crowds just to check out this design marvel!" the post quipped. Officially, the village of Khailino has a population of around 460 people.
