The laboratory of the Kamchatka branch of the National Fisheries Quality and Safety Center has confirmed the quality and safety of a large shipment of live crab, according to the institution.
A veterinary expert examined a batch of crustaceans weighing 150 tons. The live crabs were tested in accordance with current technical regulations and standards for microbiological safety, toxic elements, nitrosamines, and radionuclides.
Laboratory specialists noted that these studies are crucial for the rapid identification of potential contamination risks, such as pathogenic microorganisms, heavy metals, or radiation exposure. This proactive approach helps prevent unsafe products from entering the market and protects consumer health.
The expertise confirmed that the live crabs are of high quality and safe for consumption. The test results have been entered into the Vesta component of the VetIS information system and have been shared with the product's owners.
For context, earlier in January and February, the laboratory also tested several batches of pink salmon roe, which likewise showed no violations.
