The Kamchatka Peninsula in the Russian Far East is known for its rich and diverse wildlife, which comprises 37 species of mammals. The undisputed masters of its forests with abundant vegetation are brown bears, with some males reaching up to 600 kg in weight. Kamchatka bears feed on fish, berries, and marine animals. When food is lacking, they often approach local settlements and scavenge in landfills. Other predatory species in Kamchatka's forests include the wolf, lynx, red fox, wolverine, and otter.
